Regeneration or Bone Grafting Techniques
When periodontal disease is more advanced conventional periodontal surgery is not sufficient treatment. In these cases, the doctor may recommend a bone graft to rebuild the lost supporting bone. Below is an example of how bone can be rebuilt.
Numerous material can be used to rebuild the lost bone. Dr.'s Gibson and Carroll generally use either your own native bone harvested from other sites in the mouth or a bioactive glass material that turns into bone over a period of time.
All materials used have been tested for biocompatibility and have shown a clear advantage in clinical research trials.
