Esthetic Periodontal Surgery

These therapies cover a broad range of therapies that all have in
common the treatment of esthetic compromises of the gingiva.
These therapies have also been referred to as periodontal plastic
surgery.

	Other forms of esthetic periodontal surgery include treatment of the gummy smile. Sometimes treatment of the gummy smile takes an interdisciplinary approach involving your general dentist, your periodontist, and your orthodontist. Here is an example of a young lady who had this type of treatment involving multiple specialties.

Here is another example of a woman who had damage to her teeth due to antibiotic use as a child. The periodontist performed a minor surgery to add form and symmetry to the patient's gum line. The general dentist placed crowns to make her smile beautiful.
