The effects of some medications on gums

Unfortunately, some medications can cause you gums to enlarge.  Even to the point of requiring surgery.  Fortunately, we have techniques that can effectively treat these conditions.

Commonly used medications that can cause gingival enlargement:

• Cyclosporin (for patients with an organ transplant)  
• Calcium Channel Blockers ( blood pressure medication)
• Dilantin (anti-seizure medication)
